If you knew how to rank for more keywords in the top three spots on Google and increase your total keywords by over 1,440% in just six months, would you do it? How about driving a 982% traffic boost with only a few content pieces posted each month?
Sounds impossible, right?
But it’s not.
3 Steps To Rank for More Keywords
At BKA Content, we’ve helped clients achieve results like this, and we did it by following three simple steps that you can use for your own site.
Step 1: Analyze Your Current Keyword Profile
Before you can aim for top rankings, you need to know where you’re starting from. This is why the first step we take with our clients is to analyze the existing keywords they are already ranking for. This analysis reveals the competitive keyword landscape you’re already dealing with, so it’s essential to do this first.

A common mistake many SEOs make is targeting keywords that are too competitive or outside their reach. Instead, focus on keywords that are within your current ranking capacity.
How To Find Keywords You’re Already Ranking For
Semrush is a fantastic tool for finding the keywords you’re already ranking for and low-competition keywords to target. By typing your domain into the tool’s domain overview, you can see a list of your top organic keywords. From there, export the data to Excel and filter out the keywords with the highest competition.
For example, the client featured in the image above had keywords in the top three spots with a keyword difficulty ranging from 20 to 25. This gave us a clear understanding of the “arena” we were playing in, which helped us stay focused on keywords with a difficulty of 20-30. We didn’t push for higher-competition keywords until we had built more momentum.
Step 2: Create and Post High-Quality, Intent-Based Content To Rank for More Keywords
Once we identified the right keywords to target, we moved to step two: creating and consistently posting high-quality, intent-based content.
This is where many people go wrong. It’s not enough to just churn out content. You can’t simply copy and paste from tools like ChatGPT and expect good results. Google wants content that matches search intent: informational, transactional, or navigational.
For instance, if users are searching for a product, your content should be commercial in nature, guiding them toward making a purchase. If the search intent is informational, the content should educate the reader.
Consistency is key. Google rewards websites that feed it new content regularly. But how often should you post? It depends. If you’re just starting, post slowly and steadily. If your site is already established, you can ramp up the posting frequency to accelerate results.

Step 3: Track, Measure, and Optimize Your SEO Content
The final step to ranking for more keywords is tracking your performance. Without data, you won’t know what’s working and what’s not.

At BKA Content, we track everything from the keywords you rank for to search volume and keyword difficulty ratios. Monitoring this data helps us identify whether Google understands the theme of your page. If there’s confusion or if the keywords don’t align with the page’s theme, we may need to refocus the content on higher-ranking keywords or create new content for a different keyword cluster.
A lot of SEOs focus on creating fresh content, but tracking and optimizing existing content using the right keywords and intent is just as important. New content is essential for maintaining rankings, but tracking ensures you’re getting the most value from every piece of content you produce.
Will AI Overviews Keep Sites From Ranking for More Keywords?
No, from what we’ve seen, AI overviews, or AIO, should not keep your site from ranking for more keywords. While there has been a lot of concern that some AIO may keep users from reaching specific web pages the way they used to, having quality and helpful content is still important for you to show up in searches.
If you properly optimize your content for your target keywords and fit the intent, it is possible for your site to be included in the scope of AIO. This also still makes it discoverable by users, and people who do click through to your site through AIO may be more likely to use your services or products.
